Day 2
Morning
I took a little more time getting out the door this morning because I needed to add air to my bicycle tires, but I knew I would get to the bus stop before the second-to-the-last-one at 6:40am. I arrived at precisely 6:35 and was the first one in line–but no bus. I expected to see it at any moment, but there was no sign until 6:40 when I saw the “last” bus come up the street to make the turn around. It didn’t come back to my stop until 6:45 and then left promptly at 6:46 (right on time). I am miffed that the bus can be early or late with no apparent consequence but I am penalized for both early AND late arrivals…waiting in the cold when early, and missing the bus if I am late!
As we rode along the route toward downtown, I saw another bus of the same number as mine pass us along the way. That means that I DID indeed catch the second to the last bus but it was late

Previous UTA commuting experience
I had another gig in the downtown SLC area from November 2006 until mid-August of 2007 and used the bus for much of that time. I had some great and not-so-great experiences along the journey and thought that I might share those.
I remember the first day I took the bus. My anxiety was intense while waiting at the stop. I arrived early so I would be sure to catch the bus. I triple checked the change in my pocket and looked at my watch several times. I looked up at the sign at the bus stop again to be sure I was at the right place. Finally a bus comes around the corner and I breathed a sigh of relief.

The UTA Commuter
I just took a job in downtown SLC, and being the traffic-phobe that I am, decided to contract out the majority of my daily commuting to the UTA. For $1.60 each way I get to read, sleep, bother other riders, or whatever I wish for 45 minutes instead of snarling at the traffic and construction mess UDOT considers roads. On top of that I save money over driving, plus the wear and tear on my aging vehicle. Additionally, I absolve myself of ever having an accident with my car or getting tickets. What could be better?
